I have a feeling that time is passing faster and faster. Our youngest Barbet children are happily growing up in their new families, and Coco POLARIS has stayed with us. Always happy, they are eager to play and learn.
On 24 September our oldest barbet ABAYA turned 13 years old; we are happy she is with us - may she stay with us as long as possible. In October HEIDI received the title of Polish Champion at the show in Twardy Dół, and on 16 November she and the whole H litter celebrated their 3rd birthday. So many shared moments with the Barbets behind us, how many more to come.... Sometimes we are overwhelmed by melancholy, in moments when, together with friends, we recall the exceptional behaviour of our barbets. And so one I think is worth describing: Hans FIGARO - an exceptional dog.
I have already written about his tracking skills, this time he showed his cleverness and courage as an exceptional swimmer. During the summer meeting with Carmel FRODO and his family, all the barbets eagerly jumped into the lake, fetched from the water and played happily in the meadow. While jumping into the lake, Frida lost her fetch. Terrified, I called out that she must have lost her direction and was swimming deeper into the lake. It was seconds of wondering whether to get in the boat and swim to her or...? And at that moment we noticed that Hans had made a decision on his own, he swam towards her. When he approached her, he led her towards the shore. We were full of joy and pride in our Hans. This is how, to this day, this wonderful dog feels to be the responsible guardian of our entire pack.
